Waldorf Wet Felted Pencil Case
It’s so much fun for kids (and adults!) to make a beautiful piece of felt. The kids are so free in laying out their wool roving and then have a blast with the suds and warm water of wet felting. One lazy weekend morning, my kids and I did some wet felting and made beautiful pieces of handmade felt. I was looking at my daughter’s piece of felt and decided to make a wet felted pencil case with it. It was really easy and a fun project to do!
First, make the handmade felt. Here my daughter lays out her wool in a fun and easy way. Kids have a natural ability to put beautiful colors together.

Without too much help she started felting. Lots of hot water, lots (too much) of soap and a lot of rubbing. My daughter loves these tactile projects!
We hung up her piece of felt to dry–which took a couple days here in humid Hawaii. I then took her piece of felt and sewed it together with a piece of commercially made wool felt. Simple straight lines on the sewing machine–even I could do it!
The results were just beautiful. To my daughter, her pencil case is extra special because she made it. She proudly uses it all of the time!
