We have a dear friend who has “everything” and who has specifically asked to not receive any Christmas gifts–although she always generously lavishes gifts on my children.  I wanted to give her something this holiday season though and thought that even she couldn’t refuse a gift that was handmade by the kids.  We all thought about it for a while and remembered that she goes on a skiing trip every year…The problem was that we of course were running out of time.  We needed to make a SUPER quick hand knit scarf!

Looking in my yarn stash, I pulled out a special ball of hand crafted yarn made by Pagewood Farms.  It’s an amazing unspun (but reinforced by thread) yarn with cute wet felted flowers randomly scattered on it.  The yarn is fairly expensive–but worth it to me.  I couldn’t even imagine the amount of time it would take to make a yarn like that myself.

The yarn is REALLY chunky and using SIZE 20 knitting needles, the kids took turns knitting.  It went so quickly though because of the large needles and thick yarn.  I think that it took them less than an hour–this truly was a SUPER quick knit scarf!

We made sure to attach a little watercolor note:  ”hand knit with love”…

I hope that our scarf kept our friend warm while skiing.  There was a lot of love knit into it to add extra warmth…
