Every year I tell myself that we’ll start making handmade Christmas gifts early, but once again this year waited too long…We were rushing to make gifts and handmade cards for our Waldorf class teachers in the few days before school let out  for Christmas break.

For quick projects, I always look to felting and so we decided to make felted book covers.  The kids made two beautiful pieces of felt  and I cut them to size, stitched them to fit, and then added a touch of embroidery to one.  If we would have had more time (!) the kids could have easily done the stitching and embroidery themselves…

The only challenge we had was that the pieces of felt came out smaller than we wanted.  (we wanted to cover the simple composition books like we did for our watercolor journals)  We improvised and got two smaller journals to cover.  We added  simple “handmade with love” tags and lovingly drawn handmade cards and our gifts were done!

There are several gifts that my children brought home from school for my husband and I sitting under our tree.  Beautiful cards are attached and my daughter even made her wrapping paper decorated with leaf rubbings.  I can’t wait to open them because I know that they are handmade.  To me, handmade gifts are the best…

So once again I am telling myself that next year we’ll start making Christmas gifts earlier…

When are you going to host a felting workshop?? (I’m serious!)
I just re-read your little bio under your photo, and this line jumped out at me:
“My hope is to create a space to offer inspiration, support and friendship to Moms like me.”
Oh my, you have done that in spades, and I am forever grateful.
Love and best wishes for a lovely holiday season, Lori.
